Global Disability Summit 2025 in Berlin — a key event to accelerate the inclusion of persons with disabilities on a global scale. The energy was palpable: nearly 4,000 people with disabilities gathered to speak with one voice and demand real progress.
At the heart of the summit, the Amman-Berlin Declaration, adopted this year, signaled a strong global commitment. It acknowledges the progress made, but also highlights that the current 15% inclusion rate in public policies remains largely insufficient.
As Ruth Mkutumula (Disabled Women in Africa) reminded us:
“Fifteen percent is a good start, but we must go further — especially in areas affected by conflict or disaster.”
One powerful session, featuring Sébastien Peytavie, emphasized the urgent need for full political representation of persons with disabilities.
